Share-A-space replace the FREJ mainframe system at Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV)
Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) is from March 11, 2015 live with a Share-A-space based system for Item of Supply Information. The new system named MIMER, is replacing an old mainframe based system called FREJ, initially delivering the same functionality but on a modern platform at much lower cost. The MIMER system, with more than 1000 users, is connected to about 20 systems inside FMV and Swedish Armed Forces (FM), one being the PRIO/SAP system. The solution uses the powerful integration and consolidation mechanisms of Share-A-space together with Biztalk from Microsoft.
“We can do this because Share-A-space has the rich PLCS based database and an open and scalable architecture”, says Håkan Kårdén, CEO Eurostep Group. “The PLCS base is important since it opens up for more flexibility of evolving the IT systems at FMV for the future. With the technical base in the Microsoft platform, we are implementing technology that is enterprise mainstream and modern, bringing one of the oldest systems at FMV onto a modern platform with low cost of ownership”, ends Håkan Kårdén.
