Situation
EGIS, a company with 15,800 employees in 2019, is dedicated to supporting energy, ecology, digital, and territorial transitions to shape tomorrow’s world. For their new tram project in Birmingham, UK, EGIS opted for ShareAspace to manage their “interfaces,” which improves planning and resource utilization in their construction project infrastructure.
Problem
Large infrastructure projects involve many subsystems, each of which must be integrated with others and consolidated into the final delivery. Clashes between subsystems and extensions in lead time negatively impact work plans, leading to increased costs and time delays.
Solution
Synchronization between all the subsystems is crucial to delivering the expected result on time and within budget. INMASYST©, based on Eurostep’s software ShareAspace, is used to empower Interface Managers to support the collaborative process between all stakeholders during both the design and building phases. ShareAspace enables the sharing of all necessary information, from documents to requirements and reference data. It provides a solution for assigning tasks and tracing the progress until completion.
Håkan Kárden, Marketing Director of Eurostep Group, noted that “The collaborative approach of ShareAspace is well-suited for this generic type of problems in the construction domain. It was also great to see that we could implement the solution with minimal customization as customization typically drives cost over time.”
Benefits
- Collaboration: ShareAspace supports the collaborative process between all stakeholders in the design and building phases.
- Synchronization: The platform ensures synchronization between different subsystem interfaces.
- Tracing: It provides a way to assign tasks and track progress until completion.
In essence, ShareAspace has provided EGIS with a comprehensive, cost-effective solution to tackle the complexities of large infrastructure projects and ensure seamless collaboration and synchronization between all subsystems.
